Dating is different these days ... but you likely knew that already

“People thought the dates would be really short, but over half the dates last for more than an hour. People get into these really deep conversations,” Ury says. “A third of people say that they are open to dating someone exclusively who they’ve only met on video dating. And that number is actually higher for men. Forty three per cent of men said they would DTR, or define the relationship, with someone they’ve only met on video.”

McLeod says he expects to see dating app users continue to embrace video meetups as an efficient first point of connection, even after pandemic gathering restrictions are removed.

“Video dating is really here to stay,” he says. “It’s interesting to see that people really enjoy the experience and now plan to do it even in a post-COVID world as a mini first date or screener.”
