March is Fraud Prevention month, and I want to take this time to highlight the significant increase in romance scams since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Canadians lost over $64 million to dating fraud scams, representing a 25 per cent increase from the previous year. In 2022, romance scams were responsible for the second-highest amount of fraud-related dollar loss for Canadians.
